Jailed for rape, techie plots to kill ex-lover and her dad, held

MUMBAI: A techie, thirsting for revenge after being accused of rape by a young woman, was arrested from Malad (W) where he had come prepared with weapons to kill her and her father. The accused, Amit Jain, had procured the weapons from Madhya Pradesh and had been planning revenge for nearly 16 months.

After his arrest in the rape case in September 2012, Jain, who is from Jabalpur, lost his job and he held the victim and her family responsible for wrecking his career.

The 28-year-old victim is related to Jain and the two were in a relationship. Jain had promised to marry her and forced her to get intimate, later going back on his word. The woman filed a complaint of rape against him in September 2012. Jain was lodged in Thane jail, where he got to know weapon suppliers.

"After his bail in January 2013. Jain started threatening the victim. They relocated to a new place but Jain tracked that down. He had done a recce before coming to Malad on Saturday," said Addl CP Brijesh Singh. Jain planned to kill the victim and her dad in a public place.

On receiving a tip-off, the Malwani police laid a trap. As Jain arrived at Marve Road around 8.10am, cops rushed to nab him. Refusing to give up, Jain pointed his pistol towards the team. Officers managed to overpower him. Jain has been in Mumbai since 2007.
