IPS coaching institute director held for cheating students

MUMBAI: The DN Nagar police arrested a director of a coaching institute on Sunday for cheating 11 students. The accused lived in Pune and was operating his business from a shop in Andheri.

The accused had claimed that he would help the students clear the UPSC and MPSC exams if they enroll themselves at his institute.

However, the director did not conduct the lectures regularly following which the students doubted his intention and filed a complaint with the DN Nagar police.

The police inquired the details and learnt that the accused didn't have the required documents to operate the coaching class.

They registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) against him recently.

The police arrested the accused on Sunday from a hotel where he was staying with his wife and kids.

The police produced him before a court on Monday and the court remanded him in police custody till May 21.
