Spurned, man knifes woman, minor in building

MUMBAI: A Nalasopara man allegedly assaulted a woman and a minor following an altercation at a building in Bhayander (E) on Monday. The Navghar police said that the man, Zubin Cooper (28), who is now absconding, came to meet his former colleague, Smita, (name changed) to propose marriage to her but she turned him down.

The two had a heated argument after which Cooper pulled out a knife and assaulted Smita, injuring her on her hand. The victim's 14-year-old neighbour, Robin Karkee, who was going to his home in the building, saw the couple arguing and intervened. Cooper then stabbed the minor and fled.

In her police statement, Smita said that Cooper had harassed her in the past too. Both victims were admitted to a hospital nearby and are out of danger.
