MUMBAI: The MSRTC arranged for 25 special buses to ferry stranded passengers from Ratnagiri to Sangameshwar and also in the reverse direction following the derailment of a train on the Konkan Railway route.

Said MSRTC public relations officer Mukund Dhus, "The railways has made a special request for 25 buses and an additional 25 buses have been kept as standby at Ratnagiri station. We will be ferrying the stranded passengers at both ends -- Ratnagiri and Sangameshwar -- and bring them by road. The railways will pay the full bus fare for every passenger. So commuters will be getting free bus rides to the next station."

He further stated that the MSRTC has also deployed staff to control the rush of passengers and to ensure that they are seated together with family members in a bus. "We will also ensure that passengers are not inconvenienced during the trip," he added.
