The handing over of 900 rehab houses of Mahalaxmi SRA Co-operative Housing Society, located in Worli, was done by Mayor of city Sunil Prabhu along with Minister of State for Housing Minister Sachin Ahir, Central cabinet Minister for Shipping Milind Deora and Jayant Patil, Mumbai's Guardian Minister & Minister Rural Development, Maharashtra.
Cutting across the all party lines, a cross section of politicians participated in the event which saw a gathering of over 2,000 slum dwellers.
Speaking on this occasion Babulal Varma, managing director, Omkar Realtors & Developers Pvt Ltd said that, "Our social and business objective is to provide the finest quality of rehab housing under the SRA scheme and ensure smooth transformation of slum dwellers in adapting to a new lifestyle". Omkar Realtors has awarded the construction contract of all its key rehab buildings to India's leading construction company Larsen & Toubro.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Omkar Realtors & Developers announced the official launch of "ReMumbai" an Omkar initiative, under the Omkar Foundation to carry out all the CSR activities under one roof.
Speaking on remumbai initiative, Kaushik More, Director, Omkar Realtors highlighted that "ReMumbai is a socially responsible step towards fast-tracking city's redevelopment agenda which aims at inclusive growth. ReMumbai concept is all about promoting and highlighting the redevelopment agenda by all industry and government stakeholders to work towards making Mumbai a Slum-Free city and transform 'Amchi Mumbai' into one of the top habitable cities in the globe", More added.
Under its Remumbai initiative the company plans to play a constructive role in reaching out to all state and non-state players who can play a progressive part in pushing the city's redevelopment agenda."
Omkar Realtors has rehabilitated more than 15,000 slum dwellers in the recent past and is now set to rehabilitate a record no of approx. 20,000 slum dwellers over the next 12 months spanning Malad, Bhoiwada, Worli, Dadar, Andheri locations in the city.
