Actor Aamir Khan lodges police complaint over cyber harassment

MUMBAI: Actor Aamir Khan on Saturday met Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria and complained about some defamatory messages against him on a social networking website.

The cybercrime investigation cell (CCIC) of the city police has begun an investigation to trace the IP (internet protocol) address of those who are uploading/writing such remarks.

There were allegations on a social networking websites that at the end of his weekly show, Sataymev Jayate, the actor asks for donations for Humanity Trust and the money is used for the construction of Masjids and for the assistance of Muslim boys.

Aamir clarified that he was associated with Humanity Trust that is based in West Bengal, not the other Humanity Trust.

"False and malicious messages are circulating through social media alleging that donations are being sought in my television program in relation to an entity by the name of Humanity Trust, which claims to work in the field of Masjid Construction Assistance and placement assistance for Islamic youngsters. This is entirely false," Aamir said on his March 7 post on Facebook.
