Man kills wife, hides body parts in fridge

MUMBAI: A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, chopping her body into four parts, and hiding three of them in the refrigerator and one in the bedroom of his flat in Bhayander (E). Till the time of going to press, the Navghar police were yet to ascertain the motive as well as when the woman was killed. According to unconfirmed reports, she holds a French passport.

"The exact date when Girish Kote killed his wife Madhubanti (32) will be known only after interrogation and the postmortem report," said Sangramsinh Nishandar, Thane rural additional superintendent of police.

The couple, who have a two-year-old son, were living in 14th floor rented flat at Nakshatra Tower for the past seven months.

Man's brother told cops of his wife's murder

The murder of a 32-year-old woman by her husband Girish Kote who chopped and hid the body parts came to light on Tuesday night, when Kote's brother informed the police.

Kote had reportedly confessed to his brother about having killed his wife Madhubanti, but did not tell him that he had also chopped her body into pieces. They reportedly used to often quarrel. When the police searched the flat, they were shocked to find three parts of her body inside the refrigerator, and one in the bedroom.

The police arrested Kote, but are yet to recover the murder weapon.
