The state government's 'Saptarang 2014' will start at Gateway of India on January 3 with performances by singer Shankar Mahadevan and south Indian percussionists A Selvaganesh, Vikku Vinayakram and A Sivamani. Next day, singer Roopkumar Rathod will be there with sufi music while Bhupinder and Mitali Singh will sing ghazals. The Gateway show will end with performances of Hindustani musician Kishori Amonkar and composers Salim-Sulaiman on January 5.
The show, which will move to Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium in Navi Mumbai on January 6 and 7, will have a 'tamasha' programme after honouring artist Prabha Shivanekar. A cultural programme called 'My Marathi' will depict Maharashtra's cultural diversity.
At the grand finale at Thane's Kashinat Ghanekar Natyagriha on January 8 and 9, there will be Naman Natawara programme. Theatre personalities Aroon Kakade and Ramdas Kamat will be honoured. The show will end with 'Tu Sur Ka Sagar Hai', a tribute concert featuring the popular songs of the late Manna Dey. The show, to be inaugurated by the CM, is open to all, said Ashutosh Ghorpade, director of cultural affairs. Free passes will be available at Rhythm House, Fort; Maharashtra Watch Company, Dadar; Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi; Gadkari Rangayatan, Thane, and Vishnudas Bhave Natyagriha, Vashi.
