In the complaint, Rawathe said, "I was returning back home from my factory in Bhiwandi when a sedan (Elantra) car stopped in front of my car near the Sardar Tara Singh lake in Navghar locality. Two men stepped out from the car and dragged me out of my vehicle. They slapped me and pushed me before making away with my car."
When Rawathe asked the two youths the reason for being dragged out of his car, they slapped him and pushed him in the bushes on the highway. The two drove away in his car. "Rawathe said he lost Rs25,000 cash and the vehicle documents which he had kept in the car. Though he managed to note down only the car number in which the accused followed him but the number turned out fake," said the police.
Rawathe rushed to the police station which is hardly a kilometre away from the spot of incident and lodged a complaint. "Rawathe complained that the accused has followed him right from Bhiwandi and intercepted him after crossing the toll naka. We are gathering information and also taking help of the RTO to trace the vehicle number in which the accused travelled which Rawathe noted down," said Navghar police senior inspector Ganesh Gaikwad.
The accused drove away in the direction towards Airoli.
