NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the residents of unauthorized flats in Campa Cola compound in Mumbai to vacate premises by May 31, 2014.

The apex court said the extension of demolition deadline from November 11 to May 31 is purely on humanitarian grounds.

The SC asked the occupants of illegally constructed flats to give an undertaking within six weeks to vacate their houses.

"If no undertaking is given within the specified period, civic body will be entitled to take action in accordance with the February 27 order," the SC bench said.

Earlier, the BMC told the Supreme Court that it has no rehabilitation plan for occupants of illegal flats in Campa Cola premises in Mumbai.

On November 12, the SC had suo motu stayed the razing of the unauthorized apartments till May 31, 2014.
