MUMBAI: Traders in Maharashtra plan to renew their agitation against local body tax (LBT) by circulating a signature campaign among all associations.

The parent body, Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM), launched the "second phase" of its protest against the new tax in Maharashtra including Mumbai. It had led a prolonged shutdown in June 2013.

G J Parekh, general secretary, said the federation will erect booths at prominent marketplaces and active members of FAM's associations will obtain signatures in notebooks and hand these to FAM. The traders want the LBT Act abolished from the state.
