Crawford Market precinct must be 'humanised', say architects

MUMBAI: At a public meeting in the presence of MLA Amin Patel and local corporators on Monday, a team of researchers presented a report that could 'humanise' the chaotic Crawford Market precinct of Mumbai.

A large car park is located outside the shopping market.The suggestions included streamlining traffic to allow pedestrian movement and reserving non-peak hours for Sunday bazaars, skating areas for children or perhaps mobile libraries.

Architects Ashlesha Kale and Sameera Rao of the D Y Patil Institute of Architecture led the survey that involved students. The presentation was well received by local authorities, said participant Saadia Raoot.
