MUMBAI: The Versova police informed the court that the charges applied in the case registered against veteran actor Om Puri were bailable.
Puri then withdrew the anticipatory bail application from the court. The actor was subsequently granted bail at the police station. Puri had filed the plea after his Nandita filed an assault case at the Versova police station. Nandita also filed an intervention application in court. The complainant Nandita alleged that Puri had assaulted her after an argument at their Versova flat last week.
The Versova police booked Puri under Indian Penal Code sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) 506 (criminal intimidation) 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace). Nandita alleged that she was beaten up and was hurt on neck and her hand.
