CR spokesperson A K Singh said, "The incident took place around 9.40am; the issue was resolved by 10am. The problem occurred soon after a Chembur local reached the station and was about to leave for CST. The train was stuck for 20 minutes, due to a points failure."
On Friday afternoon, a signal problem between Vadala Road and Mahim led to delays and cancellation of four Harbour line locals on this stretch. A Kurla resident, Samir Pachpute, said, "The platform was packed due to the delays. I decided to take a taxi to Sewri as no trains were available."
Harbour line commuters are irked with CR due to the frequent service disruption. Anjali Nair, a Chembur resident, said, "Signal problems are not the only reason for services being affected. A few days ago, services were disrupted on two separate occasions due to the derailment of a goods train.
Vashi resident Ajay Shah said, "Maintenance should be improved on the Harbour line, which is serviced by two lines only, unlike the Main line which has four corridors."
No megablocks today for Ganpati festival
CR and WR have decided not to impose a megablock this Sunday on account of Ganpati festivities. "Many devotees are expected to use railway services to visit mandals across the city. The block has been cancelled so services can run at full strength," a CR official said.
