MUMBAI: The war of words between the Congress-BJP over the Gujarati community row is getting murkier. Leader of the opposition in the state legislative council Vinod Tawde (BJP) has slammed industries minister Narayan Rane and his son Nitesh for their 'objectionable' remarks on the Gujarati community members living in Mumbai.

"If Rane says that those living in Mumbai and appreciating Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi should consider going to the neighboring Gujarat state, then should we ask the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's followers to go and stay in Italy?" Tawde said. "Political leader should exhibit maturity while making statements," Tawde added.

The BJP leaders statement came immediately after Rane Sr press conference in Mumbai on Monday. Industries minister Rane had slammed the BJP leaders, especially state unit chief Devendra Fadnavis and Mumbai president Ashish Shelar for 'unnecessarily' raking controversy over his son-Nitesh tweet on the Gujarati community. Rane claims that Nitesh's tweet has been twisted by a section of political leaders to gain political mileage.
