Mira-Bhayander firemen to wear black badges on Independence Day parade

MUMBAI: The firemen of the Mira Bhayander Municipal Fire Brigade will wear black badges during the flag hoisting ceremony on August 15.

The firemen are protesting the delay in arrival of fire fighting uniforms for the new recruits.

The firemen under the Municipal Mazdoor union and the Kamgar Sena banners will wear the black badges on a day on Independence day.

The municipality had given the contract to procure uniforms for 67 new recruits. While a few got their uniforms, the remaining firemen have had to go on fire calls without uniforms.

The union had written to the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) around two months ago regarding the delay in arrival of uniforms.

The union has now decided to protest during the Independence Day parade and flag hoisting ceremony.
