MUMBAI: Meru Cabs extends its Trip Tracker service to other cities, including Jaipur where it launched operations.

Said Meru CEO Siddhartha Pahwa, " Having successfully operated Meru Cab services across four cities including Mumbai, we are delighted to bring this state-of-the-art travel experience to Jaipur."

The 'Trip Tracker Service' is an SMS-based service through which an appointed person or family member of the commuter gets regular updates of the cab location and journey details. This feature is necessary to give the much needed safety assurance especially to women passengers and senior citizens traveling alone at odd hours. "A first of its kind initiative, it is an opt-in service and will be available free of charge to all Meru customers in Jaipur," stated Pahwa.

Neeraj Gupta, founder and managing director of V-link stated, "We launched the premium "metered taxi" business for the first time in Mumbai in April 2007, followed by Hyderabad, Delhi and Bangalore. In response to the exceptional consumer demand for Meru cabs the company now expands its footprints in the tier-2 cities as well__ with Jaipur being the first city."

Sources said there are plans to launch the private taxi services in other tier-2 cities in near future.
