MUMBAI: The new State Urban Development Department UdaySamant, today, visited the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and an overview of the projects implemented by the Authority.
The all-project presentation was made to the State Minister by the Metropolitan Commissioner, UPS Madan. The presentation included on-going projects such as Metro Rail, Mono Rail, Sahar Elevated Road, Amar Mahal Junction flyover, Santacruz-Chembur Link Road, Rental Housing, Extended Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project, Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management Project, Surya Bulk Water Supply Project, Multi-Modal Corridor among others.
"The recently opened Eastern Freeway has been serving the Mumbaikars a great extent", said Samant. "The Authority has been implementing big-ticket projects which include resettlement and rehabilitation of the families affected by them. One will have to appreciate the work done by the Authority since it also included rehabilitation of religious structures which normally is a very sensitive issue", concluded the State UDD Minister.
The State Minister was also briefed on the new projects such as BKC-EEH connector which will connect BKC and Chunabhatti area near Eastern Express Highway and Kherwadi Junction flyover which is expected to complete by 2014. Very soon MMRDA is planning to initiate third metro rail project between COlaba and Seepz in Andheri which will be a 33 km route. Similarly it is likely to take Nhava-Sewri sea link, a 22 km bridge connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai towards Panvel.
