Maharashtra wants Centre to consider state tourist hubs in highway plan

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government has demanded the Centre includes state's tourist hubs, hotspots and state highways in its 20-year plan for development national highways. The state's demands were presented by tourism minister Chhagan Bhujbal in the annual conference of all tourism ministers in New Delhi.

Speaking at the seminar, Bhujbal said Maharashtra has many world heritage sites; in an ideal scenario all of these must be visible from the national highways and connected for the tourists. He also invited Union tourism minister for inaugurating the tourism centre being constructed at Ajanta and Allora caves at Aurangabad.
