MUMBAI: The Bill to curb unauthorized courses and institutes in Maharashtra which has been approved by the state legislative assembly is likely to be tabled before the legislative council for its approval this week. The monsoon session of the state legislature end on Friday.
Last week, the state legislative assembly had approved the Bill tabled by Rajesh Tope, higher and technical education minister. The Bill empowers the state government to take action against the institute or person for establishing or introducing unauthorized institutes of courses in Maharashtra.
According to the provision laid in the Bill, owners, management, and proprietors of institutions offering professional courses of study in agriculture, health, sciences, higher and technical and vocational education and animal and fishery sciences without the approval from All India Council for Technical (AICTE) will invite fine between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh and maximum prison term of one year.
