Four men held for killing a 26-year-old at Mahim

MUMBAI: The Mahim police late on Monday night arrested four men for allegedly killing 26-year-old Pravin Lokare near Savarkar garden at fishermen's colony in Mahim on Sunday morning. The accused were booked under IPC section 302 (murder).

The accused identified as Rakesh Patil, Jadya Raja, Karan Patil and Param Patil committed the offence when Lokare didn't allowed them to demolish a temple that was built in front of his (victim) residence due to which there were frequent skirmishes between them.

Police said the family members of the victim alleged it was the police negligence that led to the incident for not taking action despite being given prior complaint. Lokare was attacked by four persons around 10.30am using choppers and swords near a public toilet at Ramgadh slums. Victims family alleged that police didn't take action despite they have complaint several times.

Police said there were counter allegations. Both the parties had alleged that they face threat from each other. Police warned them after which they had given us in writing that they would end their fights.
