MUMBAI: They form a formidable alumni from an institution that is revered by all those inclined towards science and technology. On April 20, ex-graduates from IIT Kharagpur will be meeting in Mumbai to chalk out plans on how they can given back to society. Called the Kharagpur-in-Mumbai group, the alumni, the past students of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur-the oldest and largest IIT, plan to find out "the easiest and pragmatic ways'' to ensure that they contribute meaningfully to society.
Phani Bhushan, an alumnus from the 1993 batch has come up with "ways to bridge the digital divide'' through Anant Computing platform to make online e-commerce available to the vernacular speaking consumers too. Anu Acharya who founded Ocimum BioSolutions, a complete global genomics solutions provider is now launching Genomepatri , a test that will spit out at one shot what pre-determined genetic risks an individual is exposed to and Kallol Sen has plans to let a budding film-maker make his mark through a new platform. The meeting of the think tanks from the IIT KGP Alumni Association will be held on April 20, at a club in Bandra, Mumbai.
