MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government will introduce a policy in four months for streamlining the permit systems of auto rikshaws, keeping in mind the increasing population and limits of a town.
The issue of rapid growth of illegal vehicles in Solapur was raised by legislator Vijay Kumar Deshmukh during the morning Question Hour session. To this Patil replied saying that this was the problem of the entire state from the time permits to new rickshaws was stopped in 1997.
Wherever required, number of vehicles will be increased as per the requirement of the city, Patil said. Deputy chief minister AjitPawar said permit were still being allotted in the city areas. "In Baramati, two years back nearly 200 permits were allotted," he said.
