Excise superintendent convicted for 3 years' rigorous imprisonment in bribery case

MUMBAI: The special judge for CBI cases in Mumbai has convicted Vilas Prabhakar Narkar, superintendent, preventive central excise, Thane-I Commissionerate Dadar, Mumbai and sentenced him to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment with total fine of Rs 10,000 in a bribery case.

CBI has registered case against Shri Vilas Prabhakar Narkar and others U/s 120 IPC, Sec 7 and 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) of PC Act, 1988 on the allegation that Shri Vilas Prabhakar Narkar demanded and accepted Rs 1.5 lakh from the complainant who is private firm owner for setting the excise duty matter.

After thorough investigation, charge sheet was filed on May 19, 2009 in the court of special judge for CBI cases in Mumbai against Shri Vilas Prabhakar Narkar and other accused persons. The trial court found the accused Shri Vilas Prabhakar Narkar guilty and convicted him.
