MUMBAI: Its been a week since the banned outfit, Indian Mujahideen (IM), allegedly sent a threat letter to Reliance Industries Ltd chairman MukeshAmbani, however, no FIR has been registered in any police station in south region where the crime took place.

Reliance vice-president S P Nanda, a retired colonel who advises the company on security issues, met police commissioner Satyapal Singh on Tuesday and filed a complaint. The police subsequently enhanced security at Antilia, where Ambani lives, as well the Reliance office at Maker Chambers at Nariman Point.

"No FIR has been registered with us so far. If the Ambanis or their office have approached any higher authority to complaint about it, we are not aware about it. However, we can say about our police station that there is no complaint yet," said a senior city police official.

Sources said crime branch unit II visited Antilia on Wednesday and collected CCTV footage from the Maker Chambers office to identify the suspect who is believed to have entered the premises and hand-delivered the letter on Sunday. Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner (crime), said the police were trying to figure out who delivered the letter on a Sunday, going past tight security without being caught.

The sources said the letter was addressed to Ambani and the sender claimed to be an IM member. It stated that they would harm either him or his residence in retaliation for his alleged support to Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi..

It further stated that Ambani had hurt the minority community's sentiments by supporting Modi and blamed him for grabbing Waqf board property, where his residence is built. The letter said the IM was also upset over Ambani's heavy investment in Gujarat.

The handwritten English letter demanded the release of IM operative Danish. The police have doubts over the authenticity of the letter as the IM has always sent letters with its logo. The signature does not mention Danish's full name too, and there are three aliases arrested in various cases. Anti-terrorism squad ( ATS) sources said the IM has in the past sent at least five emails to news channels claiming responsibility for blasts.
