MUMBAI: Two police personnel sustained minor injuries after being roughed up by a group of female hawkers at Borivali West on Thursday evening. The two cops had gone to clear the area of hawkers around 7.30 pm, when the incident occurred.

"Assistant sub-inspector MarutiChavan and constable PandurangSathe had gone to clear hawkers after complaints of road congestion outside Moksh Plaza near Borivali West railway station. Agitated with the police action, a group of five to six female hawkers hurled abuses at the cops. They roughed up Chavan and Sathe as the duo were trying to leave the area in an autorickshaw and tried to tear their uniforms," a police official said.

The accused haven't been identified yet. A case of assaulting public servants has been registered against them by the Borivali police under section 353 of IPC. Hawkers operating near the station however claimed that the two cops had abused them and got into an argument.
