Birla garden becomes a hot picnic spot in Juhu

MUMBAI: The Birla garden managed by Juhu Citizens' Welfare group has become a favourite picnic spot for schoolchildren. The long stretch of beach (3.5km in length) has hardly any place for people to rest. Keeping in mind for the dire need for school children to rest their feet and play a few games, Birla Garden is being kept open for picnickers to use.

The shady trees, paved patios and drinking water taps make it a good ambience for school kids. JCWG is in the process of providing proper garbage cans and cold purified drinking water for parched throats.

JCWG officially registered in March 2004 is the outcome of many years of activism by some Juhu residents who have been associated with other NGO groups. It was formed in April 2002(The Juhu Seatizen) and later formalised in August 2003 with its own monthly publication called: 'The Juhu Citizen', and its own website:www.juhucitzen.org. It now comprises voluntary Members invited from NGOs in the K-West Municipal Ward of North West Mumbai who meet every Thursday evening.
