MUMBAI: Farmers across the state who have been struggling to save their crop due to the drought have now been served a double whammy. For the past few days unseasonal rains have been lashing parts of the state that has destroyed whatever crops that had been salvaged from the drought.
Unseasonal rains accompanied by heavy winds have hit Kholapur and Sangli on Saturday, other part of the state too have received similar rains for instance yesterday parts of Parbhani, Buldhana and Yavatmal received the freakish rain that led to crops of cotton, wheat, jowar, grapes, pomegranate, mango and oranges being destroyed by the unseasonal rains in these areas. Not just crops even the fodder that was stored outside by the farmers have been completely ruined by the rains.
Earlier this week rains had rained in Akola, Jalgaon and Nashik farmers in Nashik have said that the onion crop has been destroyed due to the rains.
