MUMBAI: Two men in their early twenties chased a robber in Bhayander and helped police nab his accomplice on Sunday. The two will be rewarded by the Thane rural police.
On Sunday evening, Sanjeev Mayati (36) owner of a gold manufacturing unit was in his Bhayander (east) workshop along with his employer Vishwanath Das. Two armed and unknown men barged into the workshop and threatened Mayati with a knife. They demanded the gold bars on which Mayati and Das were working. The robbers took the gold bar, the victim's mobile, cash and fled. Mayati raised an alarm which alerted Sandeep Patil (24) and his friend Manoj Patil (23) who were chatting at a distance from the workshop.
The friends chased the robbers and managed to nab Rajeshkumar Gosh (25). Gosh aimed a pistol at the friends but was unsuccessful. Gosh was then handed over to the Navghar police. The police recovered a loaded pistol and Rs 73,000 cash from Gosh. The police later arrested Gosh's accomplice Shankar Pradhan (20), a resident of Taloja. The two have been arrested under the Arms Act and have been remanded to police custody till February 9 by the Thane sessions court.
