MUMBAI: The Cuffe Parade police arrested a Navy officer after a 60-year-old victim died. The victim was injured after the lieutenant after had knocked him down on February 1.
The accident took place near Backbay Bus depot. Police said that the victim Omprakash Kadania, a labourer, who resided at Mankhurd, was knocked by lieutenant Sudeepkumar Sahu's motorbike while he was crossing the road. Sahu also sustained minor injuries in the incident, police said. The victim was admitted to JJ Hospital where he died during the treatment two days ago.
Sahu was arrested and later released on bail by a local court. "Kadania had come to south Mumbai for some work and was crossing Captain Pethe Marg near Backbay Depot, when he met with the accident," said Manoj Bahure, sub inspector of Cuffe Parade police station.
