MSS College is run by the Matsyodari Shikshan Sanstha (MSS), a trust owned by the higher and technical education minister Rajesh Tope and his family.
In October, TOI had first reported about the college not having its own building and operating out of Silicon Tower in Vashi.
"There was a need for a building, which will be fulfilled soon," said Tope on Wednesday. He added that Kamal Kishore Kadam, the trustee of MGM Dental College, has agreed to allot space for the commerce college on one of their floors. "We are finalising the rent and will shift by March," Tope added.
The MGM campus is close to Silicon Tower.
This week, a University of Mumbai fact-finding committee, which had visited the college last year, submitted its report to the varsity officials. While most officials remained tight-lipped about the report, Tope said, "I have read the report. It only mentions that the college does not have a building, but all other facilities required for the 98 students are available."
While vice-chancellor Rajan Welukar and pro-vice chancellor Naresh Chandra claimed they were not aware about the contents of the report, a varsity official said that a decision about the college will be taken only in the management council.
In addition to flouting a few of the norms set by the University Grants Commission, MSS College, which was set up in 2007, does not even have a land of its own.
The inquiry panel set up by the University of Mumbai, which granted affiliation to the college, cited the shortcomings in the college. As per the rules, the college needs to move to a permanent location or a building owned by it within five years of its affiliation. The deadline for the college is April 2013.
