MUMBAI: In a bid to promote the 720-km long coastline of the state as a tourist attraction, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will showcase a 'Chitrarath' or visual chariot at the Republic Day float at Shivaji Park, Dadar, on Saturday.
The agency says Maharashtra has something to offer every traveller, domestic or international. The Chitrarath depicts various activities like snorkeling and parasailing apart from houseboats and forts that one can experience along the coast.
The Chitrarath is an "invitation" to people to experience the different water sports available along the stretch.
Dr Jagdish Patil, managing director, MTDC, says, "Coastal towns like Shrivardhan, Harihareshwar, Murud-Janjira, Ganpatipule, Velas, Tarkarli offer amazing experiences. One can sample traditional Malvani cuisine in the Konkan region and enjoy boat rides or adventure sports at Tarkarli. Tourists can go river rafting in the clear waters of the Kundalika river in Konkan and take in the breathtaking view of the Sahyadri mountain range." The Chitrarath provides vignettes of each.
