Mumbai: In an endeavour to promote cycling as a sport, support a fuel free green environment and ultimately build healthy communities across the city of Mumbai, Bandra Cycle Club(BCC) will start ALM (Advanced Locality Management) Rides.
BCC is a voluntary cycling group, co founded by Vishal Sharma in 2010 and is being promoted by Sharma and Mahesh Ajinkya since 2011 to promote cycling as a sport across people from all walks of life and age groups within Mumbai. Over the last two years, the BCC has built an active membership of over 800 cyclists. The oldest member is 65 years old; the youngest is 3 years.
"We come down with bicycles and helmets and teach how to ride in proper formation and decorum. We will be releasing a calendar for 2013 for charity. All receipts from the calendar will be donated to the 'Swagat Ashram',"said Sharma.
The Ashram supports unaborted babies, abandoned mothers, educating the youth from slums, poor families, red light areas for the betterment of their future and development. BCC and Harley Owner's India have been doing events to support the Ashram.
BCC has started its first 100 Km's Intracity ride. It is scheduled for October 21 and will start from Bandra, head to Borivali from Borivali to Gateway and back to Bandra. BCC will also host a ccling event for children in Mumbai on November 18.
